Deborah Mackenzie

Principal

Deborah has a background in litigation and has practised in the employment law space since 2006. Deborah is known for her pragmatic, common-sense approach to workplace issues and the care and attention she gives to her clients.  As a Canberra-based employment lawyer, Deborah is experienced in dealing with public sector employment issues and assisting employees in relation to code of conduct investigations. Deborah also has a particular practice focus in advising small to medium enterprises who may not have access to dedicated HR services and regularly advises both employees and employers on employee entitlements and obligations including post-employment restraints.

Deborah is a member of the ACT Law Society’s Industrial Relations Committee, Chairperson of the Hockey ACT Disciplinary Tribunal, President of Western Districts Hockey Club and a dedicated hockey mum in her spare time.

Deborah was joint winner of the inaugural ALERA ACT ER/IR Professional of the Year award in 2019 in recognition of her professional and community contribution and achievements.

Since 2021 Deborah has also been recommended by her peers in Doyle's Guide as a leading Canberra employment lawyer whose practice has a strong employee focus.
